Bifocal Contact Lens – A New Solution To Vision Problems
Bifocal glass wearers everywhere rejoiced the day the Bifocal contact lens became a reality. Since the beginning of Bifocal times, they have never been a really popular form of glasses in any way at all. There were so many negatives in fact, it was not altogether easy to convince a person that they needed bifocal glasses. Bifocal glasses are a great deal more expensive, bulkier, and to many people, just plain unstylish. However, even though Bifocal glasses have really improved over the years in terms of style and heaviness, they are still the least popular type of glasses to date. Because of this, the bifocal contact lens has become a welcomed product in the home of many bifocal glass wearers. What is great about the improvement of contact lenses to include the bifocal lens is that bifocals are available in nearly every brand of lenses on the market. There are many different manufacturers, which means these are many different bifocal lens types. Many of those needing bifocals likely thought there was no way that a contact lens would be made available for their vision needs. While it did seem like a stretch, we cannot doubt technology. Developers have succeeded in creating the bifocal lens. These lenses work exactly like the bifocal glasses. They have two glass powers, one for near sightedness and one for far sightedness, and in each contact lens, the adjustments are made accordingly. Essentially, they are designed just like the bifocal glasses, however, in a smaller, easier, and lighter version. There are three different types of bifocal contact lenses. The first bifocal contact lens contains two concentric circles. The outer circle contains one of the two necessary adjustments, while the inner circle of the lens contains the other. Many people feel that this type of bifocal contact lens will be more of a hassle, creating a difficulty in adjustment. However, once they begin using the lenses they find that in no time at all, their eyes have adjusted to the differences, using the proper ring for sight without a second thought. The second type of bifocal contact lenses is what is know as a aspheric lens. This type makes the change between near and far more of a gradual aspect than a sudden one. In the aspheric bifocal contact lens, the glass powers are contained within the pupil area. The last and third type is what is called the translating bifocal lens. This type has distinct similarities to the bifocal glasses. For seeing distances, the correction is located at the top of the lens, while the correction for seeing closer is contained in the lower portion of the lens. Your optometrist can best recommend which type of bifocal contact lens is best for you, your lifestyle, and your vision problems. You can even choose between conventional, disposable, or extended wear lenses. |
